Matt Luna is a graduate of the University of North Florida, in the United States, with studies in Sociology and English Literature. He has extensive experience in designing and managing international projects, building partnerships, writing/editing publications, networking for impact, and website production. He has been the project communication manager for the Horizon 2020 Microbial Desalination (MIDES) project that is developing a low-energy system of producing safe drinking water.


Since 2012, his work has been focused on the environmental and development sector with NGOs including the Institute for Environmental Security and as a contributing writer & editor for IHE Delft Institute for Water Education publications. In gender in democracy and development, Matt has been an elections-observer and trainer for local civil society organizations in North Africa and Asia in the Gender Election Observation Mission initiative.


As a former journalist with the International New York Times in Paris, Matt is also the creator and organizer of The Hague Roundtable on Climate & Security. The Hague Roundtable is an initiative he founded in 2015, which aims at increasing international cooperation on climate impacts including responses to droughts, floods and natural disasters. He is based in The Hague, the Netherlands.

In REACH, Matt acts as a Consultant for Projects Communication and Dissemination at European and International levels.
